Etsi continued with her story. "We heated the spruce gum and put it on the seams
of the birch bark canoes. Once it was cool and hard, it kept them from leaking.
We made our own paddles too."
Etsi stopped and looked over at Nora and John. They had fallen asleep.
"That's enough for now," Etseh said quietly. "Let's say a prayer and then
get some sleep. It's been a good, long day. Masi."
